This fireman really lights my fire...Okay, I had to...
My favourite writing duo Max Monroe is at it again with their newest rom-com Hot Stuff, and this time sparks ignite between a hot single dad firefighter and an attractive doctor. It's like something out of The One-Chicago television world except with less angst and more laugh out loud moments...
Seriously, Max Monroe is always good for a laugh, but they really slammed it out of the park with not one, but three awkward meet cutes. By the time Garrett and Lauren finally agreed to go on a date, I was sold on the fact that they were meant to be together. But of course, things in a romantic universe are never that cut and dry. There have to be complications - and in this case, there's the fact that Lauren just so happens to be Garrett's boss' daughter. There's also the fact that Garrett is coming off of a longterm relationship and fresh-ish divorce and he has two pre-teen kids. Lauren is also afraid to change up her well-crafted and simple (read boring and orgasm-less) life, and she's grown up with a firefighter dad and knows the strain it can put on a relationship. So yeah, there are things that could potentially get in the way. But as with everything Max Monroe writes, it was so much fun to take a dive into their messy world and come out on the other side with a piece of these characters lodged in my heart.
Lauren has definitely been career focused - which makes complete sense considering that she's a doctor. But honestly, when a hot fireman gives you his number and asks you out - there should be absolutely NO hesitation. But what do I know...I did really like her internal monologue. She was funny and real and awkward AF at times. I loved how good of a dad Garrett was - that was seriously a huge turn on. At first, when I found out his kids were both 12, I was worried that I wouldn't like their little pre-teen personalities. But they had their own funny moments and they grew on me. I loved the pop-culture references as always. It's like Max Monroe and see into my mind and know exactly how to play me. I mean, reaching way back to 2001 for JLO in The Wedding Planner - genius.
As always, another great fun Rom-Com. If you like fast paced and really funny scenes, swoon worthy romance, and characters that will sneak into your heart and stay there, then this is a great pick for you. Thank you to the author and to SocialButterflyPR for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Hot Stuff, an all-new laugh out loud romantic comedy from New York Times
bestselling author Max Monroe is available now!
Have you ever seen a fireman who’s so insanely sexy you’d actually consider
DIY-ing a little at-home arson just so he’d show up at your front door?
Dramatic, I know, but hear me out.
Chiseled hot body, bright blue eyes, and the sexiest smile I’ve ever seen, the first time I
saw Garrett Alexander in my exam room, it took everything inside me not to do
something crazy like mount him during his yearly physical.
Not only is he a total babe, but he’s charming, hilarious, and the kind of single dad that
would make your ovaries explode—the total freaking package.
I know you’re probably wondering, What in the heck are you waiting for, girl? Go get
yourself a fireman!
But, see, there’s one teeny-tiny (read: huge) problem—if we got together, we’d have
to keep our relationship a secret.
I know. Who even am I? Some heroine in a freaking forbidden romance novel?
Let me guess, now you’re probably thinking...Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Don’t do it, girl. Don’t
fall for the sexy, off-limits man. It’s not worth it.
Well, too late. I already went and did it.
And I have a feeling this fire of ours is going to go up in a big, mushroom-cloud-worthy,
ball of figurative smoke.
