Definitely a wild ride
Okay, I may have picked this one up because of the cover...but I ended up really enjoying it. When Ella, who lives a quiet, responsible, and dare we say boring life, meets Deacon, a member of a new MC in town, her life careens into action-packed and dangerous. Deacon is intense, and a bit damaged, and very protective, and when he decides that Ella is his - then everything that Ella knows changes. Deacon's MC is in a feud with Ella's uncle's MC - which places her square in the middle even though she hates her uncle. There are also things about Deacon's past and present that Ella must decide if she can handle. Is this beautiful biker, who makes her feel things she's never felt before - is he worth all of the danger? Can she deal with her predictable life going out of her control?
I really liked Ella. Reading her internal monologue was fun and enlightening. I connected with her and found myself going - hey, I think that too - and - oh good, it's not just me. I liked the action and adventure in the book - even though it did get dark. For those of you with triggers, be advised this book delves into some pretty serious stuff. It is not one of those fluffy MC books. I also liked the supporting characters. Ella's family is great - they could be featured on their on TLC reality show.
The only thing I felt this book was missing was a double POV. I really felt that Deacon's perspective was missing. We only knew what he decided to tell Ella, and often times if felt like he was holding back. There were also times when Ella was sent away from the action and only learned bits and pieces of it afterwards. It would have been great to read it first hand. But other than that, I liked this book and plan to continue the series with Deacon's brothers' books. Who doesn't need more beautiful bikers in their life? Amirite?
This book was first published in 2016 and I give it 4 stars out of 5.
