Ladies, it's time to meet your next book boyfriendThe iconic 1980's movie When Harry Met Sally said it best: Men and Women can't be friends because sex gets in the way. Whether it's the physical act itself, or simply attraction that enters the equation, being members of the opposite sex and trying to just be friends is difficult. But in A Very Friendly Valentine's Day by Kayley Loring, Eddie and Birdie try and succeed at being just friends for six long years - at least that's what they keep insisting. I guess something had to give - and I am so happy to have been along for their journey to see it come to a head. (Don't make that dirty - if you made that dirty, it's on you.) This book is funny - like laugh out loud funny. Reading through Eddie and Birdie's texts are hilarious. And Eddie is so frickin charming. And hot - did I mention that he's hot? Well, I didn't include the cover of the book above and below for nothing...he's hot. He is by far the best book boyfriend I've added to my repertoire in awhile. And Birdie is quirky, nerdy, neurotic, and sweet. You wouldn't think a girl like her would be on a guy like Eddie's radar, but he's such a nice, great guy, he likes her for her. And that is just the sweetest. Honestly, this is a great romantic comedy and this is one best friends to lovers story that you'll want to read again and again. You'll laugh, you might cry, you'll high-five yourself for getting all the Friends references, and you might decide that when traveling is once again possible, maybe you too will book a ridiculously long train ride in an attempt to nail down your mister right. Seriously though, one click this baby today - you won't regret it. Thank you to the author and to GiveMeBooksPR for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. RELEASE BLITZ

She mostly wrote PG-13 family comedies that studios would pay her lots of money for and then never make into movies. In 2017 she decided to move to the Pacific Northwest and write about all the fun stuff that she wasn't allowed to write about in those PG-13 scripts. Now she’s breathing cleaner air and writing dirtier words. It’s an adjustment she’s happily getting used to. A Cute and Quick ReadThe brother's best friend / best friend's little sister romance story is a tale as old as time - it is one of the most popular love tropes out there. And for good reason because it makes for a good story. The risk in the romance is already there and things are automatically complicated. In Oops, the new contemporary romance novella by D.L. Gallie, she takes this trope and goes full steam ahead. Mia and Lawson have known each other their whole lives because Lawson is Mia's brother's best friend. Mia has always had a crush on Lawson, but she never in her wildest dreams thought anything would come of it. That is until all of a sudden, he starts flirting with her. Lawson opens his eyes one day and sees Mia as a woman, and not only as his best friend's little sister. He wants her even though he knows he shouldn't. When the two of them try to see where their romance can go, they do it in secret. Will Mia's brother find out and ruin their chances at happiness? Will Lawson's relationship with Mia's brother be ruined because of their romance? Is it worth the risk? This was a short and sweet romance and it definitely followed the trope to a tee. If you had a checklist of how the story should go, you could easily mark the whole thing off. Unfortunately, there were no surprises and we didn't really get to know the characters. Normally I love the predictability of a good rom-com, but I guess I was hoping for a bit more. I did like the steamy bits, but it might have been good to balance those parts with a bit of insight into who these characters were. But, if you are looking for an easy, sexy, short read, then this is definitely the book for you. It had funny moments and kept things light - and sometimes that is just what a reader needs. Author: DL Gallie Genre: Brother’s Best Friend Romance I’ve had a crush on Lawson O’Connor since forever but it can never be, he’s my older brother’s best friend. I always thought the feelings were one-sided but recently, I’m beginning to suspect otherwise. A subtle touch here. An inappropriate comment there. A smoldering look. A sexy wink. And then it happens, we hook up. It’s everything I ever imagined and more but we can never be, can we? Links: Purchase: http://mybook.to/oops Goodreads: https://bit.ly/Oops_GR AUTHOR BIO: DL Gallie is from Queensland, Australia, but she's lived in many different places all over the world. She currently resides in Gladstone with her husband and two kids. She and her husband have been together since she was sixteen, and although they drive each other crazy at times, she couldn't imagine her life without him. Shortly after her son was born, DL began reading again. With encouragement from her husband, she picked up the pen and started writing, and now the voices in her head won't shut up. DL enjoys listening to music, drinking white wine in the summer, red wine in the winter, and beer all year round. She's also never been known to turn down a cocktail, especially a margarita. They're sweet, sappy, easy to get through and there are so many good ones to choose from. When I had the opportunity (thank you to the author and Give Me Books PR) to read an advanced copy of Not Your Average Vixen, in exchange for an honest review, I leapt higher than your average reindeer. I was so excited and was really hoping I wouldn't be let down. I have never read anything by Krista Sandor - but now, she's got me hooked! I loved this book - the characters, the premise, the snowy mountain scenery - it was a perfect Christmas read.
Bridget Dasher is down on her luck - with pretty much everything in her life facing challenges. But her relationship with her younger sister Lori is solid and is the best part of her life. Lori is having a Christmas wedding and Bridget is determined for it to go off without a hitch. She's planned everything perfectly - the only thing she didn't plan for was Soren, the grumpy, down-on-love best man who seems determined to ruin the wedding! Well, not if Bridget has anything to say about it. Bridget will do anything to give Lori her perfect wedding, even if it means having to deal with Soren herself. There's just one little problem - Bridget just might be - a little - okay, a lot - attracted to Soren, and that may throw a wrench in both of their plans. This book was so great. It had moments of fun perfectly mixed with emotional moments. I was immediately pulled in, and couldn't wait to see what happened. Based on the premise, I thought I'd be annoyed with Soren - but I fell for him so hard. I could understand where he was coming from and why he did the things he did. And waiting to see if he would find redemption for his bad attitude was part of the fun. The romance between Bridget and Soren was anticipated with each turn of the page - they matched each other perfectly and their moments of butting heads filled me with glee - which is exactly what you would hope for from a Christmas Rom-Com. If you are looking to get yourself the perfect gift this holiday season (and with the way 2020 has gone - who isn't?) download this book. You won't regret it. There's no mistaking...that this was really cuteFor those of you who like those sweet Hallmark Christmas movies, this is the book for you. And that’s a good thing - because we can’t get enough of those cute holiday stories. In Mistletoe Mistake, the first in the Greetings from Avondale series, Amali Rose shows humour and heart. It’s a very quick read and it’s fun - this book will definitely get you into the holiday spirit.
Holly hates Christmas and has since she was a kid. Her birthday is on Christmas Day and she always felt that she got the short end of the stick. While housesitting for her brother close to the holidays, Holly finds an unexpected roommate in Nick, her brother’s best friend, and Holly’s longtime crush. Yes, Holly has always liked Nick but she’s always been too shy, and too afraid of her brother’s reaction, to tell him how she feels. Nick is really happy to be sharing a house with Holly, because - you guessed it - he has feelings for her too. It’s a delightful Christmas miracle. Nick decides that not only is he finally going to make his move with Holly, but he’s going to do his best to get her into the Christmas spirit. Seeing two fun characters that have a shared past finally come together is really great. Rose leads us through their emotional journey with funny and cute scenes. She also introduces side characters that we will most likely see in later books - I always enjoy when an author works to set up further stories. I really enjoyed this Christmas story and I know you will too. Mistletoe Mistake releases December 3. Thank you to the author and to Give Me Books PR for giving me an advanced copy, in exchange for an honest review. A Romantic Comedy written the way they are meant to be writtenI love Max Monroe, the dynamic writing duo that have, in recent years become a mainstay in the world of contemporary romantic comedies. They write funny, quirky characters who often get themselves into ridiculous situations that the reader can’t help but laugh at. Their writing is relatable and down to earth. I mean, they include references to Gilmore Girls and Titanic and all those girly things that make me want to be their best friends in real life. (Seriously MM, message me…) Their books are definitely my go-tos for when I need a pick-me-up. So I was definitely excited to read their newest book, Best Friends Don’t Kiss, which releases today! Thankfully, it didn’t disappoint - or that intro would have been awkward.
Best Friends Don’t Kiss is a mixture of the movies When Harry Met Sally, The Wedding Date and it also reminded me of Maid of Honor - all really fun Rom-Coms that I love. It is so nice to find authors that can take the best of those funny, sappy movies and put their own spin on it. And I am not saying sappy in a disparaging way. I love those types of movies - in fact, I feel the need for a binge watch coming on. In Best Friends Don’t Kiss (hereafter known as BFDK), we meet Ava and Luke, who had an adorable meet-cute in college and have been best friends ever since. But that’s all they are - Best Friends. That’s it, just friends. Right…of course we can see through that a mile away. But the question is, can they? It all comes to a head when Ava, a people-pleaser to the nth degree, gets roped into helping to plan her high school reunion with her high school nemesis, a girl who made her life hell once upon a time. Not only does she have this reunion to look forward to, but she also has her little sister’s wedding - all within a couple of weeks. And, to save face, Ava kind of, sort of, lies about having a kind of, sort of serious boyfriend. So, she has just a few weeks to find this perfect guy so that she can hold her head up high at her reunion and keep her meddling family off her back. Can she find that special someone, or will Luke have to jump in and save the day as always? And if he does, how will they make sure not to blur the lines between couple and best friend? What I loved about this book is that within a few pages, I was immediately invested in these characters and their futures. I found them charming and I loved their shared history. I saw a bit of myself in Ava, but I often found myself on Luke’s side. And speaking of Luke - all I can say is yum. I mean, he’s a pilot on his way to becoming an astronaut. That’s hot. But aside from the physical, he's such a great guy - definitely book boyfriend material. And for fans of Max Monroe, you’ll be happy to know that there are some fun cameos from their previous books - but you can definitely read this as a standalone. You may not get some of the inside jokes, but that’s okay, because after reading BFDK, you’re going to go pick up their entire catalogue - I’m sure. It was funny, sweet, charming, and exactly what is needed to finish off this disastrous year. BFDK releases today and I know you’re on your way to download it as we speak. Thanks so much to Max Monroe and to @socialbutterflypr for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really, truly loved it! |
