Ahhh…a New Year. A New Decade. (Holy cow how did that happen??) Now is the time to make New Year’s resolutions…promises we don’t really intend to keep. We do this every year – we put it out there. Into the universe. And – three weeks later – when we fail, the universe spits in our faces. Well, this year, I decided to put some of my goals – my book goals anyway- into writing, as a way to hold myself accountable. Looking online, I discovered that I am definitely not alone in this – there are a ton of 2020 Reading Challenges out there. Some of them are super chill and fun, while others require a magnifying glass and a degree in economics to decipher. (Seriously, cool it on the long, drawn out list of rules, bloggers!)
There were a few that caught my eye and really went well with my own personal goals, so I decided to join in on the fun. And now…my declaration:
I intend to read at least 150 books total. These can include anything from picture books (which I need to read for another challenge I am participating in), to comics, to novellas, to light paperbacks, to chunksters.
I will read one book that I actually own at least once per month. My bookshelves have been glaring at me for – well, forever.
I signed up for these bookish challenges on the interweb:
#2020AudiobookChallenge, hosted by Hot Listens and Caffeinated Reviewer. This is a challenge where you – guess what, listen to audiobooks. I love audiobooks! I used to listen to them on my bus rides, but now that I am driving to work, it’s a bit more challenging to fit them into my routine. I’m pledging to be Socially Awkward (Don’t talk to me) 15-20 audiobooks.
2020 The Badboys of Romance Reading Challenge hosted by DelightedReader.com. Who doesn’t love a good Badboy? In fact, I actively seek them out! In my reading mind you, not real life haha. I pledge 15 books or more – Taking the Bad Boy to the Alter.
#2020FinishingtheSeries Reading Challenge, hosted by celebrityreaders.com. I am sooo bad at not finishing series, and I have so many that I’ve started. Even though I am enjoying them, I tend to move on to something else. Well, no more! I pledge to be a C-LIST SERIES FINISHER ⇒ COMPLETE 1-4 SERIES. I know this is a small pledge, but some of those series are loooong.
And finally, I will be joining the 2020 Reading challenge with Linz the Bookworm and Logophile. They’ve created a list of 60 really neat prompts. Some of these may be challenging, but I’m looking forward to reading outside the box.
I’m looking forward to these challenges and to reading books that have been on my TBR list for way too long. I’m looking forward to cleaning up by book backlog. And of course, I’m looking forward to READING.
Happy New Year everyone! And if you are feeling so inclined, join me on some of these challenges! Be a joiner – -you know you want to.
